Adoption Steps

  1. Application
    Submit your application and application fee to Grace International
  2. Adoption Home Study
    A Home Study is a report required by adoption officials affirming that you are suitable to be a parent(s) of a child and can provide the stability and home environment that a child needs. Click here to find out more about the home study process
  3. Immigration
    All families adopting internationally must receive approval from USCIS to bring a child into the country. Approval allows you get a visa for the child. Click here for more information about immigration issues.
  4. Passport
    If you do not have a passport, order one now for both adoptive parents, even if only one is planning to travel. All of your paperwork, (home study, dossier documents, INS application, etc) must use the same name that is on your passport. Your passport is your identification and is an important part of your dossier. Passports can usually be ordered from the main branch of your post office and require two passport photos.
  5. Dossier
    Your dossier is a package of documents that are presented to the court in the country that you are adopting from. The court gives approval for you to adopt an orphaned child. All documents for the dossier must be notarized, certified, and apostilled.
