I know I've said this before, but wanted to share it once more. When I was pregnant, I was in the care of a midwife and let me tell you that the relationship you develop with your midwife is sacred. You spend nine months sharing your woes and your excitement and they listen and they help and they care and they are always available and always excited to talk about your baby. I love those women and they will always hold a special place in my heart.
I share this story with you Terri, because that's what you are to me. You have been my confidant, my expert in the field, my coordinator, my friend, and my “adoption midwife”. It may sound like a strange analogy to some, but for me it makes perfect sense. You are someone I can call and say, “Is this normal?” “Is everything moving along like it’s supposed to?” “Is our baby okay?” I know that you genuinely care about our adoption and helping us bring home our baby. You continue to update me on every aspect of the process and explain everything in detail, while making me feel like I am the only expectant mother you know. You share my excitement, my anticipation, and my frustration with the lengthy process.
Then on top of it all, you went out of your way to pay a special visit to our daughter while in Guatemala. Knowing that we would be unable to make a visit trip, you went and took pictures for us and met her foster mom and asked a million questions and snuggled our baby girl. Now I have pictures of my daughter with her foster mom and pictures with her "midwife" to put in her baby book. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for going to visit my precious girl. She's beautiful and I can not wait to bring her home and drive you crazy with more pictures and stories about how wonderful it is to have a girl.
